This is a baby quilt created for a family member.

I designed the concept after finding the polka dot fabric pattern in a series of different colors.  I had seen other quilts with this theme and thought it would be fun to make my own cast of characters.  The horse was the most challenging to get his face and personality to my satisfaction.  Several of the animals have their own added elements.  The dog has his bone, the cat has a mouse friend, the hen has her chicks and of course the pig has a visiting spider who has come all the way down the quilt from the top frame on her strand of silk.  Her web is up in the corner of the horse’s stall.  This, of course, is an homage to Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White.

All of the animals have some part of their faces that is satin.  This is so the child has something soothing to touch in various places on the quilt.
